International Lighthouse and Lightship Weekend 2006

Saturday 19 & Sunday 20 August 2006

On the third weekend in August, Split Point Lighthouse will join with lighthouses all around the world to celebrate International Lighthouse and Lightship Weekend.

The lighthouse will be "activated" by local amateur radio operators, and the objective of the event is to promote public awareness of lighthouses and lightships and their need for preservation and restoration. The public is invited to participate, to learn about the operation of amateur radio and the importance of lighthouses and their preservation.

Tours prices will be discounted for this special event – Adults $10, Concession $8, Children $5 and Families $25.
