Hike in the Great Otway National Park & along the Surf Coast Walk

From 2 hours to a full day, join local guides to learn about our native animals and plants, Aboriginal bushfoods and the natural & human pressures that affect the landscape. The Great Otway National Park has plenty of great walking tracks that lead through heathlands, eucalypt forests, temperate rainforest, beaches, rivers and cliff tops.

Perhaps we can lead your group on a walk from camp to the beach, learning about traditional bushfoods and medicine plants along the way. We can also talk about Anglesea’s dramatic Alcoa coal mine from a lookout, look for signs and traces of native animals, discuss human impacts and land management, and talk about our Indigenous people’s involvement with the land.

Bushwalks will be tailored to you group’s abilities, timeframe, accommodation, and content requirements and may be used to link your other camp activities. Save money and resources by walking, instead of taking the bus!

Duration:

2 hours to a full day

Sites: The Great Otway National Park, including Point Addis, Anglesea, Aireys Inlet and Lorne regions
Suitability: Primary and secondary school students, tertiary and adult groups
Note: Leaders will carry additional hike first aid supplies on all walks

Please phone us if you wish to take a longer hike, and we will discuss pricing for your group.

FREE Environmental Projects

We hope that you can help us care for the coast when you visit the Great Ocean Road for a field trip or camp. We have recently acquired a trailer and tools, and designed a program that involves tree planting, brush matting, weeding and site maintenance, while enjoying Surf Coast sites and meeting curriculum goals.

New Activity - Dune EduAction aims to restore degraded coastal ecosystems between Anglesea and Apollo Bay. Being involved in the program, school and community groups gain an awareness of coastal processes and a sense of ownership of the coastal resources
Duration:

1.5 - 2 hours

Sites:

A variety of sites on the Surf Coast between Torquay and Lorne. We aim to match groups with a site where they are doing other Eco-Logic activities, or a place that your school can contribute to over consecutive years

What is supplied: All tools and equipment for environmental works, plants and safety vests for all participants
